2022.01.23 09:16 shimszy The -25% damage bug is good for ARAM

I don't know about you guys, but currently, damage to creeps is reduced by 25% across all sources due to a bug and I think ARAM is in the best state in history due to it. The game is so much more interactive and the flow is so much more interesting since its harder to instant wipe creeps. Theres a lot more interesting trades going on and overall the pacing is far more satisfying.

2022.01.23 09:16 filianoctiss 20+|GMT|Fortnite

Hi all,
I am looking for some people above 20 y/o to play Fortnite with, if I am not playing solos I normally play squads and although I do have couple of people with whom I play regularly when they are unavailable I normally need to play random squads. What I am finding is that A BIG part of players are kids around 8-12 years old with whom I don't have much in common. I would like to expand my Fortnite friends and ideally people in my age group.
I play PC but with a controller, I am no pro and I do it mostly for fun. My building skills are quite basic but it's something I am working on.
Drop your handles below and I will add you!

2022.01.23 09:16 hmroue Does Coinbase send tax forms?

I plan on filing my tax return soon, but I haven’t received anything from Coinbase about a tax form.
Does Coinbase report to the IRS? Or would I have to manually calculate my gains and report it myself?
Thanks

2022.01.23 09:16 CaiusViciatus “Dwarven urbanism:a world beneath the surface”

Understanding the true scale of a dwarven hold is often difficult for most surfacers. Although there are certain human or precursor elven cities that can match some of such settlements in age, such as Castonath or Ketherat, the very nature of constructing on a mostly one-dimensional environment sets their scope apart, even in the case of the City of Castan despite it being designed by the revered ancestor Balgar the Builder.
In cities built on the surface, the old gives way to the new. Previous structures are abandoned, repurposed and demolished with new buildings raised on top, as time goes by, to the point where only a few structures of particular importance, good craftsmanship and timeless utility remain, such as palaces, temples, defensive walls or grand scale infrastructure, with the rest being erected on top of centuries or millenia old rubble.
This is far from the case in an underground environment. There is only so much remodeling masons and miners can make of a particular room, hallway or cavern until its structural integrity is at risk, especially the more complex and layered a hold becomes. In many occasions reutilizing old facilities is not even desired or acceptable, given the attachment of dwarves to their creations and that of their predecessors as a result of the cultural values of a society where elders hold most political and social power. Furthermore, the extended use of large scale construction - often awe inspiring - as a symbol of prestige, social status and executive legitimacy, is a type of architectural design that very often requires excavation especially designed for a particular facility, not just for its unique structural needs but also to the characteristics of the rock and strata it's carved upon. As such, it's not uncommon to see even the most humble of structures remain, from a small smithing shop to a complex of commoner housing or a fungi nursery, as tearing them down to make room is often not even worth the cost, structurally possible or socially accepted. As a result, holds grow significantly more vast than any city, over and over for thousands of years, one chamber and passage at a time, to the point its tunnel networks can extend farther than the borders of some small countries.
When holds expand, they do so in every direction, not just in an arithmetic scale, as a surfacer city would, but geometrically, most notably downwards. In order to achieve this, a central organization is critical: without a grand design and strong regulations, the structural integrity of an entire hold is at risk if diggers do not pay heed to the supports of facilities above or below them. It is theorized that the first successful dwarven cities arose due to the concentration of central authority around early excavation experts, as their commands and design would allow urbanism to be possible and thus for their civilization to expand in complexity; some scholars posit that this may very well be the key of the “Serpentspine Fork” theory, by which this process allowed dwarven civilization to prosper and goblin cultures to stagnate, as the latter would be less inclined or favored towards this type of power consolidation and enforcement, though this interpretation is largely problematic and controversial among modern academia due to its inherent specism.
Leaving the controversy behind, this process has a very clear paralel in early human sites at Kheterata, Bulwar or Haless, where some of the most important responsibilities for holders of executive power was the maintenance and expansion of irrigation and water control networks, due to the destructive power of rivers like the Yanshen or the Suran if left to their own devices, which needed canals and reservoirs to be harnessed and utilized for large scale agriculture, eventually allowing the growth of cities, and thus specialized craftsmen and trade networks, architecture, writing and taxation, among other advancements.
But we must return to the dwarven holds. Vast expanses of their underground reaches exhibit archaic design principles, and must be abandoned, or repurposed if usage is to continue, especially with the development of more advanced infrastructure, technical means or urbanistic principles. For instance, it is now commonly accepted knowledge that a significant amount of warehouses of the Amldihr Commons District were originally fungal farms, as evidenced by the discovery of primitive water transportation networks and soil samples from cracks in the stone. However, the development of the large scale - and certainly state managed - irrigation project of the Serpent’s Vale rendered these underground farms unprofitable due to the sheer productivity of the terraced farms, forcing its redevelopment to endure as utilized spaces. Other areas were not as fortunate. One can still visit the Ancient Quarter in many holds, the remains of their first stages of settlement, often built on the upper levels and evidencing poor excavation capabilities and planning. These quarters often end up abandoned or turned into ritual or ceremonial spaces, as they stand too far away from the optimal layout of more modern tunnel networks, sewage systems or ventilation shafts, all critical in proper hold development and economic activity.
Excerpt form the prologue of “Dwarven urbanism:a world beneath the surface”, by Moira Slatecarver, published by Anbenncost University Press 1981.

If you got this far, thank you for reading this short fictional article! I don't know how the community will react to this kind of "fake academic lore" content, its kind of unheard of, really, so let me know your opinion in the comments!
